Fairytales teach children early on about the gender roles they have to follow throughout their life. In fairytales, males are always the ones who do hard work and go out to work to support their family. They also present males to be the tough courageous and brave characters. on the other hand, females are always the ones who do the household chores. There are usually presented as an extremely dependent character who needs a male to do everything for them. If we take this into today's society, language is still gendered. From policemen to firemen, these are usually jobs that men take on. They are the more dangerous and physical jobs and usually display a job that a man should do. In children books, the firemen and officers are usually portrayed as a man over a woman because men better suit the role.
